The Law for Child Support Agreements made before 1 July 2008

Old Types of Child Support Agreements made before 1 July 2008

Child Support Agreements made before 1 July 2008 (when the law changed) were often called:

  • Formal Agreements;
    • Consent Agreements; or
  • Consent Arrangements.

Child Support Agreements that were written and entered into prior to 1 July 2008 have, since 1 July 2008, been treated as a special class of Binding Child Support Agreement.

Child Support Agreements made before 1 July 2008 can be terminated by written agreement between the parties without the necessity of either party seeking Independent Legal Advice.
